When you’re not practicing or teaching, what do you enjoy doing?

When I'm not doing yoga I love being very active and outdoorsy. I'm an avid skydiver, surfer, trail runner, and hiker, but really just enjoy anything that gets me outside and in nature!

What drew you to Katonah Yoga?

I was initially brought to my first Katonah class by a fellow yoga teacher and that class forever changed my perspective on what yoga could mean. I'd always been drawn to high intensity vinyasa classes, but realized Katonah was a practice for every aspect of life that provided insight and information in ways that no other yoga practice had for me before.

Is there a piece of theory that has resonated with you?

The most profound insight that has always stuck with me is the metaphor of the body as a house. It's such a clever and practical piece of the Katonah theory that weaves in the magic square, the postures, and how to leverage the practice in your body so that you can live in a nice, clean, beautiful abode.

Who has been most influential to you in teaching or practicing yoga?

Of course Nevine and Abbie have had a profound impact on not only the way I practice, but the way I see the world around me as well. I'd also love to give a shoutout to my dear friend and teacher Josie Schweitzer for being a constant source of inspiration both on and off the mat.

How have you brought the theory of Katonah Yoga into your daily life? Any specific scenarios you want to share?

I've used the magic square for years to work through problems, plan around goals, and bring ideas to life. Once you understand how it all works it becomes an incredibly powerful tool that you can use in so many different ways.
