Yoga That Truly Fits Every Body

Not Just A Slogan

At Archetype Yoga, "all bodies welcome" isn't just a slogan—it's our foundational philosophy. Our inclusive yoga studio in Pasadena was built from the ground up to ensure that every person, regardless of age, size, ability, experience level, or physical limitations, can access the transformative benefits of Katonah Yoga®.

We believe that yoga should adapt to you, not the other way around. Whether you're dealing with injuries, mobility challenges, are new to movement, or simply want a welcoming space to explore your practice, you'll find your home at Archetype.

Adaptive Teaching Philosphy

Our classes feature individual modifications offered in every session, with props encouraged for students of all levels, not just beginners. Chair yoga options are available whenever needed, and our knowledgeable teachers provide injury-informed instruction tailored to each student's needs. There's no pressure to attempt poses that don't serve your body, and we actively welcome dialogue about what you need to feel comfortable and supported in your practice.

How We Make Yoga Accessible

Physical Accessibility Features

Our Playhouse Village studio is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring a ground floor location with easy access from the street. The space includes wide doorways and a spacious layout that accommodates mobility aids and provides comfortable movement throughout the studio. We maintain accessible restroom facilities and offer comfortable seating in our reception area for those who need to rest. To support every body type and ability level, we provide comprehensive props for every body, including bolsters, blocks, straps, blankets, and chairs that can be used to modify poses and enhance comfort during practice.

Teaching Adaptations

Our all bodies welcome teaching philosophy ensures that every student receives the support they need through visual, verbal, and tactile instruction options that accommodate different learning styles and abilities. We offer multiple variations for every pose, ensuring that practitioners can participate regardless of their physical limitations or experience level. Each class includes both seated and standing alternatives so that students can choose the option that works best for their body on any given day. We provide hands-on adjustments only with explicit consent, respecting personal boundaries and comfort levels.

Class Structure Support

Our inclusive yoga studio scheduling is thoughtfully designed to accommodate different needs and accessibility requirements. We offer gentle classes that are specifically designed for students with limited mobility, ensuring that everyone can participate safely and comfortably. Small class sizes guarantee that each student receives personalized support from our instructors. Additionally, we offer multiple weekly options to fit varied schedules and energy levels, recognizing that accessibility also means accommodating the unpredictable nature of chronic conditions and varying daily capabilities.

Specific Accommodations We Provide

  • Addressing various mobility needs through chair-based variations for every standing pose and wall support for balance challenges. Bolster assistance helps with floor transitions when needed, while shorter holds can be implemented for comfort. Alternative entry and exit methods for poses ensure that everyone can participate fully regardless of their current mobility level.
